Dear Dante

Dear Dante

Dear Dante

My skin no longer burns with

The excruciating agony

That accompanies walking through

The pits of hell

With you

And as my peaceful body

Sways

Above the waves

Under a bright blue sky

Repulsion sinks in

As I yearn

For the trembling rush

Of your hand

Around my neck

Enveloped in the scent

Of my melting orifices

Craving the comfort

Of my inferno guide

Hoping that one day

Hell

Will no longer feel

Like home

-JP

Dear Dante evokes painful reflections about the process of recovery from a trauma bond, with motifs from the classic Italian literature The Divine Comedy (Inferno) by Dante Alighieri.
